Elysian Fields - KXCI 91.3 FM To begin, let me just say that liner notes are not dead!! Well written liner notes bring so much more to this piece. Sadly, I wouldn't have detected the change in scale type, but now that it is mentioned I can hear the shift. This is a wonderful piece that I will definitely include in the show in upcoming weeks.

about

New Synthwave song, this is actually my Composition project for School, that was already finished way ahead of the assignment submission deadline, there were some requirements that I had to follow for the School project, those that I have chosen are : to make a sampler with found sounds (I've made my own drum sounds with non-musical recorded sounds) , I've used Modal harmony and also a non-conventional scale ( the song is in A# Phrygian and for the bridge I've used the A# Indian scale and the Pelog scale) and lastly I've used Polyrhythm and Cross Rhythm.

I had composed the song originally using a few soft synth patches and I had the idea of re-recording with my own hardware synthesizers but then later decided to keep the soft synths and use all the hardware synth tracks as layers. I've made patches with my Modular Synth for each part as well as using my Semi-Modular synths, there is a lot of Moog Subharmonicon tracks in this song.

The drum samples are all mine, recorded some sounds with a condenser microphone and later all transformed them into usable Drum Samples. I've made my snare out of a guitar string pluck , my Kick from a Bass Guitar string pluck, the toms are mostly cardboard box sounds, the rim shot was made with a USB stick and a DI, lastly the Clap was made using a Coca-Cola can opening sound.

So for this song I had to do a lot of Sound Design, I was also testing the waters because I will be using more hardware synths in my future tracks , so it was a very fun experiment and I'm happy with the results. This is a huge track project, there's almost 60 tracks in total, it was quite tricky to mix with the ton of layers.

Hope you enjoy this one ! Thank you so much for listening !
